"Holy Mary."
"I pray to thee, mother of the True."
"Relinquish us of sin, wash us with the blood of the forever,"
"show me unto what I have never seen,"
"and be with us for the feast of a thousand lives."

The words of the church reverberated inside my head. I couldn't help but stare down. I had nothing else to lose, really. I didn't really care about what was said, nor did I pay attention to it much at all. I didn't believe in that "truth." I only remember the devastation, and what I've done to fight it. These people, they never would understand. Doctor Tantalus and I, we study that piece of what's left of god every day, and nothing gets us further from the truth. I know that this whole story was a lie, I always knew. From the day my family was replaced, replaced by the TV that read aloud to me, like a narrator reading a story. The woman spoke in a calm, emotionless tone. And then I heard it, the words that made me believe in hell but not heaven, a grotesque being had entered my mind and it festered in my newfound absolute knowledge.
