Nostalgia

Do you remember those summers? I do... though each year, the memories become a little blurrier.

I still hear the laughter carried by the evening breeze, echoing between rows of glowing lanterns that seemed to stretch into the stars. The air was warm, sweet with the scent of food from stalls I'd race between without a single worry in my mind. Back then, time didn't matter. Tomorrow always felt infinitely for away.

I thought those nights would never end.

I chased fireflies until the sky turned black, watched fireworks bloom like flowers above my head, and believed every wish I whispered into the summer wind would somehow come true. The world felt so much bigger then... yet somehow safer. Simpler.

Funny, isn't it?

The festival still returns every year. The lanterns still sway. The music still plays. Children still laugh exactly as we once did. Yet when I walk those same paths now, something is missing.

Maybe it isn't the festival that's changed.

Maybe it's me.

The days became shorter. Responsibilities replaced wonder. Somewhere along the way, I stopped looking up when the fireworks painted the sky. I stopped chasing moments because I was too busy chasing tomorrow.

*If I could go back... even for one more evening... I'd run through those streets again without thinking about time. I'd hold onto those fleeting moments just a little longer. I'd tell my younger self not to grow up so quickly.

Because I finally understand...

The most precious memories are the ones you never realize you're making.

So if you ever find yourself beneath the glow of summer lanterns, with music dancing through the night and laughter all around you...

Stay a little longer.
